| Six Good Reasons to Use
Pay-per-Click Marketing!
Have you ever wonder how to attract truly qualified
visitors to your site - the kind that actually want the types of
products you are selling and are currently looking for them now?
In marketing, there are two lead generation philosophies
to consider - so called "push" and "pull" marketing
methods. In "push" marketing, you typically reach out
to an audience by calling them (telemarketing), direct mailing them,
emailing them, advertising on TV or radio or in traditional print
media or via banner ads, and hope that your message resonates with
them so that they either positively respond to your call or call/email
you when they see the advertisement. Typical direct mail or email
campaigns are conducted to thousands or tens of thousands of identities
in the hope that some small percentage might respond. The same applies
to telemarketing campaigns. In the end, perhaps 1% to 5% of those
reached might actually respond - and that does not mean buy - that
usually means they become a lead. The cost of generating those leads
varies by industry and audience but, ultimately, the ROI is often
low and the cost, effort and elapsed time high.
"Pull" methods, on the other hand, are
designed to let those who need and want your products and services
come to you - when they want it and with a pretty high likelihood
that it is your kind of product they are seeking. Search engines
on the Internet are one very prominent example of "pull"
marketing. When a user types in "herbal remedy for anxiety"
they are very clearly specifying what the want, and by virtue of
the fact that they are conducting the search, it is likely that
they are looking for a solution NOW!
So how do you make sure that when the user enters
that search phrase, they find you? Quite obviously, you would want
your site information to appear high up on the list of returned
results. What is not so obvious is how to make that happen, and
how to determine EXACTLY what message the user sees when your listing
appears.
Traditional search engine registration and optimization
programs are one way to get listed as high as possible. And, don't
get us wrong - they are very valuable and should be a part of your
overall site marketing plan. However, the downsides of of relying
on this entirely are:
- There are hundreds of thousands of sites doing
exactly what you are doing and competing for the same users
- Search engines usually take from two to six months
to "spider" your site or register your efforts to become
visible; meanwhile, you are still pretty much invisible to your
target audience
- The exact message the user sees varies by search
engine and you have only limited control over that - and certainly,
the kind of listing that becomes visible seldom is designed to
elicit immediate action
That is where Pay-Per-Click adverting comes in.
Most, if not all, of the major search engines offer advertising
programs that enable any web site to "buy" premium position
in search results - as high as number one on page one. And, you
only pay for the privilege if someone actually clicks on your listing
and visits your site. Often, the cost of a visitor ranges from as
low as 5c for the click, and while most will tend to be in the 10c
to 50c range, can of course be more expensive. However, when compare
the cost of acquiring one visitor with that of targeted email, direct
mail or banner advertising, PPC costs almost always are the lowest.
And that is because you are reaching those who are looking fro your
product or service, at the time they want it and, best of all, with
the message you want them to see.
What happens on your site is then very much up to
you (with our help, of course, should you want it). But that applies
to any method by which you reach them. Converting those visitors
into a sale is, of course, the ultimate objective but, all things
being equal, the combination of cost and timing of acquiring a new
customer is almost always better via PPC that any other method.
So, here are six reasons why you should consider
using PPC marketing to drive traffic and sales to your site:
- You can become visible much more quickly than
in traditional search engine placement programs - and that means
a faster flow of visitors and business.
- You can control almost exactly where you want
to be seen in the returned results - first, second, tenth or any
other position. While you are bidding for that position against
other advertisers, their are tools and services such as ours that
help to ensure that you can be listed where you want and when
you want.
- You control the message the user sees - from
the title of the search result to the more detailed description
of your product or service. Thus, you can very deliberately and
effectively target what the user sees and how you want to attract
them.
- You can manage the flow of visitors almost like
turning a faucet higher or lower. By altering the cost you are
willing to pay per click, you will list higher or lower and thus
attract more or fewer leads. And it's all in your control
- You can reach almost 80% of all web users via
just two such PPC program operators which feed almost every major
search engine on the web today. That is unbelievable reach for
relatively little incremental work.
- The results are measurable - a very important
aspect of any marketing program. PPC engines typically report
on exactly how many visitors each search word or phrase generated
for you over any period of time. And, by working with us, we can
extend this to include a full ROI Analysis, recording not only
visits, but orders and revenues as well, so that you can fine
tune your program, down to the individual search phase or word.
Your marketing strategy should incorporate an appropriate
mix of programs, including free listings, targeted email, affiliates
and even offline marketing. However, if you want quick, measurable
and controlled results, then few marketing methods offer a more
effective way to achieve this than PPC.
